Branded Displays Using preserved moss

In the past, if you wanted your logo, company slogan or mascot recreated on your wall,
you’d normally have to opt for traditional signage. But with preserved moss, it gives your creativity a whole new dimension to explore.

Moss is very aesthetically pleasing, especially when it is strategically arranged by mixing colours, textures or different varieties. Similar to live moss, preserved moss is also highly malleable, meaning we can create various shapes or letters using preserved moss with ease.

We can also install branded preserved moss displays anywhere in your office building, such as reception areas, meeting rooms, corridors or employee break rooms.

Decorative Moss Accent Walls

Our team specialises in decorative moss accent walls, perfect for filling otherwise plain spaces of an office with energising colours and textures. From small panels to a full preserved moss wall, decorative moss can make an instant impact in any office.

Just like the real thing, preserved moss comes in many forms. Depending on the look you want to achieve, we can help you select the best artificial plants for your project, including moss.

To give you an idea of what’s possible, the different types of preserved moss we work with include Reindeer Moss, Flat moss, Flat and Ball Moss (aka ‘Bun Moss’). Preserved moss is available in a variety of colours too. We tend to go with the traditional green palette but it can be dyed to any colour.

For commercial environments, it is sometimes a requirement to ensure the moss wall is fire rated, which we can also take care of on your behalf.

Moss Room Dividers Partitions

It’s common for offices to consist of large, open plan spaces. Green artificial plants including moss walls or sectional panels can be used to establish different zones and break up any empty space.

In an office, moss dividers can be used in areas of the buildings designed for meetings, informal discussions or desk work. When preserved moss is installed onto acoustic panels, this can also improve the acoustics of the space too. Best of all, preserved moss creates instant visual impact wherever it is placed.

Wellness Zones

The reality of working in an office is that employees can be subject to stress and fatigue. Even though preserved moss isn’t real, it can still possess endless benefits for employee wellbeing. Exposure to greenery in general has been associated with benefits like lower stress levels and improved productivity.

If your office building has break rooms or even exercise studios, preserved moss can work equally well to uplift the space.

Benefits of Using Artificial Green Plants In Offices

Have you always liked the look of preserved moss in corporate environments, but are yet to install any in your commercial office building?

These are just some of the top reasons why preserved moss can prove to be a very smart investment for any UK office.

Makes the Office Environment More Productive

We can’t think of many companies that would turn down the opportunity to boost productivity by 15%! According to a study by the University of Exeter, that’s exactly what installing greenery in an office has shown to do.

As we’ve previously shared in a blog post about sustainable building design, moss benefits also have acoustic benefits. To recap, we discussed how a good quality moss wall can absorb between 70% – 99% of the sound that hits it. This results in a Noise Reduction Coefficient of 0.7 or 0.99, which makes the acoustic benefits of moss walls comparable to high performance acoustic panels.

For such a simple measure, greenery (yep, even when it’s not real!) can produce a fantastic ROI. UoE researchers looked into the reasons why this is. They found that greenery in the office increases employee engagement, including making employees more “physically, cognitively and emotionally involved in their work.”

Instant Year-Round Greenery

With artificial plants including preserved moss, there is no waiting around for your plant to bloom. Instead, the design will be ready to admire in its full glory as soon as it’s installed in your office.

Better still, the lush greenery, plus any other colourful tones you want to include will last indefinitely. In the winter months especially, having a flourish of greenery throughout your office can make a huge difference to its overall appeal.

Low or No Maintenance

Apart from an occasional light dusting, most preserved moss requires absolutely no maintenance. This is in stark contrast to live plants which can require watering, pruning and even pest removal depending on the variety.

For busy offices especially, preserved moss will fit right in with your schedule. Over time, you’ll also appreciate the lack of maintenance required despite preserved moss continuing to provide visual interest throughout the seasons!

Preserved Moss is Hypoallergenic

As an employer, you might be hesitant to use real plants in the office in case employees, clients or visitors have any allergies. Since preserved moss is hypoallergenic, it can allow you to gain the vast benefits of having greenery in the office without the worry of triggering any reactions.

Endless Usage Possibilities

Preserved moss lettering. Preserved moss logos. Preserved moss walls… Honestly, we could keep going with these ideas all day long!

In short, we can use preserved moss to create an array of artwork on your wall, from intricate lettering designs to full wall panels. Given preserved moss doesn’t have many of the restrictions associated with using live plants, our designers can explore any usage ideas you may have.

P.S. While this post is all about using preserved moss in offices, preserved moss is also highly suited to hospitality environments. Please contact us to find out more.

How to Use Preserved Moss

Oasis Plants can use preserved moss in your office in several ways. Some top ideas include replicating your company branding through lush greenery or creating large moss panels to hang on an empty wall.

Since preserved moss is hypoallergenic, it generally has a much wider usage potential than live moss or other live plant species. Therefore, we can use it throughout your office building to uplift your employees to encourage productivity and wellbeing.

What Are the Benefits of Using Preserved Moss in Office Spaces?

The main thing to know about preserved moss is that it doesn’t require any maintenance. This makes it ideal for busy offices which don’t have time to stop to take care of plants. Likewise, office buildings that lack the natural light needed to sustain live plants.

Preserved moss is fully customisable to the colours, textures and overall look that would best suit your office space. Whether your office is undergoing a contemporary refurb, or if the moss needs to blend into an existing decor, preserved moss can meet all design briefs.

Your chosen preserved moss art installation or wall piece can remain in place for many years without losing its splendour.

What Are Creative Ways to Decorate an Office With Preserved Moss?

We recommended checking out our moss wall section on Instagram for some tangible examples. Across the UK, we’ve installed preserved moss in offices to create breakout zones, establish employee wellness areas or simply liven up reception areas.

Since we can also incorporate your company branding into the design, our creativity here is truly limitless.

How Do You Install a Moss Wall in an Office?

The Oasis Plants team will handle your moss wall installation on your behalf. When piecing together your moss wall (or moss art) the live or preserved moss will be secured to a backing material such as plywood, MDF, foam board or acoustic panels.

Once all of the moss has been constructed and secured to the applicable backing material, our
team will then secure it to the chosen wall in your building. To hold your moss wall in place, we may use a variety of methods such as glue, staples, wall brackets or panels.

The specifics will depend on the size and weight of the installation. However, we’ll be able to tell you more about this during your consultation.

How Long Does Preserved Moss Last in an Office Environment?

A ballpark figure of how long preserved moss lasts is between 2 and 8 years. That’s provided the preserved moss wall has been created and installed professionally.

As you might expect, the longevity of preserved moss walls depends on various factors. If the preserved moss wall is in a high traffic area (e.g. a corridor), it may get the occasional knock which reduces its shelf life, this is why the disparity between predicted longevity is so extreme!

It’s not recommended to install preserved moss walls outdoors, we don’t recommend they get wet or are in humid areas, too close to a sunny window or near radiators or air conditioning units. They won’t last as well in these areas.

To ensure your preserved moss wall looks great for as long as possible, our team will also advise on the best location to install a preserved moss wall as part of our installation services.

If preserved moss isn’t quite the right option for your project, then we can also explore artificial green walls instead. As well as boasting zero maintenance, artificial walls can also be fire rated and UV rated.
