Insight, Sheffield

We worked with Maze to help implement biophilic design throughout Insight’s new offices in Sheffield. The focus was to create an agile, dynamic and adaptable workspace.

They opted for a combination of live and artificial planting throughout. The breakout area was to be a versatile space, so furniture and planting needed to be adaptable. To allow for easy transitions within this footprint, replica planting was installed in the mobile trough planters.

We used live floor standing plants throughout the open plan office and in meeting rooms. We used a combination of Epipremnum, Kentias, Pachira, Ficus Lyrata and Strelitzia. In the kitchen area we installed potted trailing plants, Asplenium ferns, Asparagus ferns that benefit from a slightly humid area.

The group collaboration areas benefit from replica trailing planting, as well as enhancing the aesthetic, this will soften the industrial feel of these areas. The same applies for the ceiling rafts. The added benefit is that this additional biophilic layer enhances the acoustics by reducing noise levels in a busy office environment too.
